Impact of Paris

In a paper published November 9, 2015, Bjorn Lomborg calculates the impact of the 21st UN Conference of the Parties (COP 21) meeting in Paris that begins November 30. IF countries agree to their pre-conference commitments to reduce CO2 emissions and IF they continue to adhere to the reductions throughout the 21st Century, then the projected temperature will be lower by 0.048 C to 0.170 C by 2100 compared to what it would be in the absence of an agreement. In other words, the impact of Paris — the Obama legacy —┬áis empty; when it comes to global warming, the impact of Paris is swallowed up in the measurement error. Its biggest impact will come via the havoc it could imply for the global economy.
